Client FAQs

What is Shpoonkle?

Shpoonkle is a web site designed to help Clients find Lawyers for an affordable price, and to help Lawyers expand their practice.

How Much Does This Cost?

It's free!!!

I'm not sure if I have a case, is Shpoonkle for me?

It definitely is. You don't know the law, and you’re not expected to. By posting your case on Shpoonkle you will get feedback from experienced Lawyers who will let you know whether or not you have a "real" case. Just like how you can go to a Lawyer for a free consultation, on Shpoonkle Lawyers come to you to give you a free consultation.

Ok, so I have a case, but what's Shpoonkle going to charge me?

Nothing. Really, nothing. Shpoonkle is free. You post your case for FREE, and choose the Attorney that fits your needs.

Shpoonkle is free, but what's the Lawyer going to charge me?

We can’t really answer that. What the Lawyer charges you is between you and the Lawyer. Depending on the type of case and how much work the Lawyer has to do, the fees will vary.

I posted my case, but I don't like any of the Lawyers, do I have to choose one?

Nope. If you didn't like any of the Lawyers that responded to your case you don't have to choose one. This is your case, and you deserve and will have the Lawyer YOU want. So you can just repost the case (hey, it’s free after all) and have Lawyers bid on it again.

The Lawyers offered me different types of payment options, which is the best?

Well it depends. A lawyer has four options when bidding, contingency rate, flat rate, hourly rate, pro bono. It depends on the type of case you have, and on your financial situation. Some cases work on a contingency fee, that means you pay nothing until you win, and then the lawyer takes a percentage of the winnings. If you lose, you pay nothing. Other cases (writing a contract for example) may work best on a flat rate fee, meaning you agree on a price and don't pay a dollar more. If a lawyer bids pro bono, it means he is willing to take your case free of charge. Choose whichever works best for your situation.

Does the whole world see my dirty laundry?

Of course not. Lawyers will see the information, but they are the ONLY ones. Even the Lawyers who see your information will not know who you are, because you will be using a username that is different from your real name. People visiting the site and other Clients will NOT see any of your private information.

So a Lawyer responded to my case, can I talk to them?

Yes. You can message the Lawyer and they can message you. Feel free to ask them questions about their experience, where their office is, how many cases they did that are similar to yours, or ANYTHING you want. You are hiring this person and you are entitled to find out any information you want.

Can I post my contact information?

No, Our reverse auction process is completely confidential. No contact information can be posted and/or exchanged during the auction during an open case auction.

The client and prospective client can exchange details about the case on their posting and through private messaging. The attorney can tell the client about his/her years of experience and any other professionally relevant information to help the client.

I chose a Lawyer but I want go with a different one, can I?

Sure. The case you posted stays open for 72 hours after you have selected a winning lawyer. You can go back and choose any of the other Lawyers that bid on your case and contact them. If you still can't find someone you like, you can just repost the case and try again.

Why should I use Shpoonkle?

A lot of bad stuff happens to us in our lives and most people don't know that you can do something about it. Shpoonkle provides a place for everyone to find a Lawyer and finally do something about it. Instead of being limited to the Lawyers that are in your neighborhood, why not get access to Lawyers around the country that will work for you for the price you want. The reason you buy stuff online instead of in stores, is the same reason you should hire a Lawyer online, the prices are more competitive.

This sounds awesome, sign me up.

I'm glad to hear it, we think it's pretty awesome too. Just create an account and post a case, you should have it up and running in less than a few minutes. If you have any questions along the way, are not sure where to post the case, or anything, send us an email and we will help you out.
