As reported by ABC News, “On 1/31/12, Pfizer Inc. recalled 1 million packages of birth control pills: LO/Ovral-28 tablets and Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets (generic) distributed in the US. An investigation by Pfizer found that some packs may contain an inexact count of inert or active ingredient tablets and that the tablets may be out of sequence. Because of this “packaging problem” as they refer to it, (really awful quality control is what it is), “it could leave women with an inadequate dose of the hormone-based drugs and raise the risk that they will get pregnant accidentally.”
The problem affects 14 lots of Lo/Ovral-28 tablets and 14 lots of generic Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol tablets. Both products are manufactured by Pfizer and marketed in the U.S. by Akrimax Rx Products under the Akrimax Pharmaceuticals brand. Pfizer said the packets are pink with the drug’s brand name or generic name on it, along with the Akrimax name. These products are distributed and sold to warehouses, clinics and retail pharmacies nationwide. Expiration dates on the affected packs range from July 2013 to March 2014.
Each packet is supposed to contain 28 color coded pills, with 21 of them containing the active ingredient that prevents pregnancy and seven that act as placebos. They are supposed to be taken in a particular order for them to prevent pregnancy. Doctors say taking three placebos or more in a row negates the pregnancy protection. Tablets out of proper sequence could result in a pregnancy.

Hello. I’m trying to spread the word about the Pfizer Inc recall of over a million packs of birth control. Many woman have gotten pregnant. There is a class action suite for the recall. If you or a loved one has been affected by this you may be eligible for compensation. Please spread the word.
That’s a lot of product recall. But it’s a good thing for Pfizer to acknowledge their mistakes on this one.
